MockFlow Update: Generate Specification in MS Word format

Menus

We are very excited to announce a new export option introduced in last week's update to MockFlow. First of all both the 'Export' and 'Tools' menu have undergone a UI overhaul to provide a better look and feel. MockFlow which already exports to a variety of formats including PDF, PPT, Image, Excel  has now an additional export for Generating specification in MS word format (*.docx). This feature will be very useful to create a quick specification for your mockup project to start with.
The 'Generate Specification' exports a mockup project to a *.docx file providing the following details

  • Project title with date generated
  • Table of Contents
  • Image and title of each page in mockup
  • Specification for each page*

Note: *The specification is actually generated from the text of CallOut Components used in the mockup.

MockFlow update: New pause/resume user sharing

Sharing

Today's MockFlow update has been released with a brand new logo design as seen in the picture above. We hope you like it as much as we do. The highlight of this update is better collaboration with pause/resume user sharing. This feature lets the owner of a mockup to temporarily disable sharing (without removing) for certain collaborators of a mockup inorder to prevent those collaborators making changes or reviewing the mockup while the work is in progress.

This new control is found in the sharing panel next to each collaborator's email. When the sharing for a collaborator is disabled, that user will see a large 'Pause' sign over that mockup's thumbnail to indicate that collaborator's access rights are temporarily disabled. The owner can again resume sharing by clicking the 'Play' button.

Where it is used?
It will be typically used in scenarios like where a web-designer will be sharing the mockups to his clients. The web-designer can intermittently disable sharing with the clients when mockup needs work.

MockFlow update: Private library for MockStore

Private

Ever since the release of MockStore, the community addon for MockFlow, a huge library of components and templates have been shared. While this is great, we also realize that many users and business want to keep certain reusable portions of their mockup confidential and only share them internally between their mockup projects.  So today's update provides a private option which will satisfy that use case.

This is how it works: When you are submitting the component to MockStore, you can now enable a checkbox called "Make me private" that will make the component available only to your mockup projects. To access and import these components, open the library and toggle the public/private button to switch between the community library (public) or the components that only you can access (private).

Note: The 'Private Library' feature is available only for MockFlow users with Premium / Team licenses.

MockFlow update Roundup: Better Revision History, Real-Time Editor Lock, iPad...

Ipad
For the past few weeks, we delivered some serious updates to MockFlow with lots of improvements to features and performance. Here are some highlights of them. Before listing them, we like to officially announce that our new project "MockFlow for iPad" is under development. It will have some interesting features including ofcourse a touch controlled interface. We hope to provide more details with screenshots and video demos of it within the next 2 weeks and submit to AppStore by the end of July or early next month.

Better Revision History - Now MockFlow make auto-revisions of your mockup as you work more frequently in a smart way.

Real-Time Editor Lock - When 2 or more collaborators are working on a mockup real-time, one of them can lock the editor control to prevent overlapping changes from other editors. This control is available in the "Team Chat" window.

Save Page to File/MockStore -  Under page settings, there is a new option to save an entire page to a MockStore or to a file that can be imported for another mockup. Good for moving pages between mockups.

Improved PDF export - The PDF export in MockFlow now comes with options to choose page orientation and page size (A4,A3,A2...)

We urge our users to upgrade their Adobe AIR software to version 2.x and Flash Player to 10.1 to minimize resource usage especially for Mac.

MockFlow update: Export SiteMap data to Excel & 20 new Icons in library

Map2execl

Based on customer feedback, a new feature has been added to provide exporting of SiteMap data and structure to MS Excel/CSV format. As seen in the picture above, a representation of a mockup's SiteMap is published to Excel. We believe this would be very useful for Information Architects #IA as they could fill in details and prepare a plan for a website in much less time. This export option can be found as part of the SiteMap visualization tool.

The other big update in today's build is the addition of 20 new Icons for the Icon component in the library.

MockFlow update roundup: Label styles, Bullet List, Gradient Fills, Change Mockup Owner, FP 10.1 support...

Updates

This is a roundup of all the important updates applied to MockFlow this week, it consists of both Web and Desktop clients:

Label Styles
The settings of the label component now provides pre-defined styles with various heading levels and link

Bullet List
This is a new component that enables users to easily form bullet lists to represent the list tags in HTML. There are different bullet types: Circle, Disc, Square, Blank.

Change Mockup Owner
Now you can transfer your mockup project to another user in a click using the 'Change owner' button present in the mockup menu of the dashboard. This is helpful in many situations for instance when a team member wants to give full rights of his/her mockup to the administrator.

Flash Player 10.1 support
MockFlow Web client now officially supports the latest upcoming Flash Player 10.1 client. It has been thoroughly verified to work in all browsers and operating systems. The FP 10.1 is currently in Release Candidate can be downloaded here. If you are on a Mac, just get it now.

Gradient Fills
Based on customer feedback, we have now added a Gradient Fill option for all shapes including rectangle, rounded rectangle, circle and triangle.

Group Linking
This is a very nifty feature that let users to directly link grouped components to pages. Saves time!

SiteMap orientation
The SiteMap visualization is constantly evolving and last week's update brings orientations (left align and top align) to it. The orientations make it useful to navigate the SiteMap based on how it is laid out.

Resource optimization
Thanks to the new optimizations, Now large mockups use much less memory and CPU resources without affecting performance.

That's it for now. Have a great weekend!

MockFlow update: Added "Rulers" for editor

Untitled-1

It has been a busy week for us, following the implementation of "Advanced Color Picker" for component settings today's update brings "Rulers" to set your measurements right. "Rulers" is must have for any design software as it helps in precise positioning of components.

Some points in regard to this are:

  • Rulers automatically scale when the editor is zoomed in or zoomed out
  • An indicator needle is provided to track mouse position within the mockup

MockFlow update: Design awesome layouts using the new 'LayoutBuilder'

Layoutdesign

We are excited to announce a new major feature in MockFlow for designing background design layouts called "LayoutBuilder".  The 'LayoutBuilder' is basically a component that you can drag-n-drop from the library to the editor and then edit the layout design by double-clicking on the component.   The 'LayoutBuilder' offers an intuitive interface for designing mockups of website design layouts in no time.

How this is useful?
A layout serves as a background stencil like seen in the pic above, so it is always useful to start your wireframe with a structure to get a basic idea of the parts and placements (i.e strategy) of your forthcoming website design. Then you can add detail to your wireframe by placing appropriate components on it.

Here is a short demonstration of the 'LayoutBuilder:
